Most Guatemalan families work on the fields or markets and their income is based on the sales they have a day. We are all aware of how difficult the situation has become in these times of unknown and doubt, this is why we decided to enlarge the normal food basket for some months. We thank God for His provision during these difficult times: we were able to provide each family with an additional 20lbs of beans and 15lbs of corn during 2 months! Additionally, we are now including a bar of soap on each basket to encourage proper hand-washing. We prayed over this decision and we felt peace on moving forward and adding more to the basket which we are sure has helped the sponsored families during this quarantine. Children are staying home doing work from school, this means they are having all their meals at home, some parents lost their job due to the pandemic, so having a total 25 pounds of beans and 25 pounds of corn in the sponsorship basket made such a difference and has helped these families to meet their most urgent food needs. Public transportation ceased due to the restrictions in-country, so families are not able to travel to the center to receive their baskets, rather, we designed a system to deliver their food baskets every month. All of the families have shown such gratitude to their sponsors for making this possible! This time has been hard for everyone and even when it seemed impossible, our God made it possible to continue providing meals to One More Child.
